Wolf Range Repair
Wolf gas and dual-fuel ranges in Wellesley kitchens, most of them installed during a full remodel and expected to run hard. We work through ignition, gas valves and orifices, burner behaviour, knobs and control boards, and treat the oven cavity of a range as part of the same visit.
Said on the phone
The complaint, in your words
- Cooktop and oven working but the controls dark
- Burner that will only hold a high flame
- Uneven browning down one side of a dual-fuel oven
- Ignition continuing to click after the burner is off
On the visit
What gets measured
- Manifold pressure at the regulator, cold and under load
- Spark output and flame-sense return on every burner
- Oven igniter current draw — the figure that decides whether it can still open the gas valve
- Simmer behaviour on the low-flame screw with the door shut

Money
One fixed number, and four things that move the rest.
Typical range · parts and labour together
| Repair | Range |
|---|---|
| Igniter or spark module replacement | $280 – $630 |
| Burner valve or orifice service | $250 – $1,060 |
| Oven thermostat or sensor calibration | $130 – $660 |
| Convection fan or motor | $310 – $940 |
| Control board or touch panel | $510 – $1,590 |
| Door hinge, glass or seal | $210 – $960 |
The fixed number is the $95 service call: the visit, the readings and the diagnosis, credited in full against the repair once you approve it. Nothing past that is quoted over the phone, because nothing past that can honestly be quoted unseen.
- Component or assembly. An igniter, a sensor or a switch is a component. A control board or a burner valve body is an assembly, and that is where the spread on an estimate comes from.
- Gas half or electric half. A dual-fuel range is two appliances behind one fascia. Which half failed decides which trade the visit actually is.
- Access to the back. Some faults are reachable from the front. Others need the appliance drawn out of a tight run of cabinetry and levelled again afterwards, and that is quoted as labour.
- Carried or ordered. Igniters, sensors, switches and seals ride on the van. Boards, hinge assemblies and cavity parts for older platforms are ordered, which changes the shape of the appointment.
For scale: a comparable new appliance runs $6,610 – $18,760 for the unit alone, before delivery, installation, gas or electrical work and any cabinetry changes. That is the comparison worth making before agreeing to a large repair, and it is the one we will make with you.

The second range in our butler pantry had not worked in two years and we had given up on it. Seized gas valve and a shot igniter. He got it running and left the pantry cleaner than he found it.
Dov K.Wellesley Farms
Everything on the range worked but the control display was completely dark. A connector in the base had backed out during an earlier service call by somebody else. He found it in ten minutes and said so.
Alastair D.Wellesley Hills
He carried his tools up two flights in a condo off Brattle Street without a word of complaint, on a Saturday no less. One burner would not light at all. The spark electrode had snapped. Replaced, and every position tested before he packed away.

Wellesley Farms
Wellesley Farms is the quiet northern corner along the Charles toward Weston, with estate-scale houses on curving roads and deep frontages. Kitchens are large and frequently paired with a second cooking area in a butler's pantry.

Wellesley Hills
Large shingle-style and Tudor houses on the wooded slopes north of Route 9, most of them a century old with kitchens rebuilt in the last twenty years. Pro ranges here usually sit in a rear addition with island seating and a separate prep zone.

Wellesley Square
Close-set colonials and capes within walking distance of Linden Street and the college, on modest lots with detached garages. Kitchens are compact, so a 30- or 36-inch range and a panel-front dishwasher have to work in one tight run of cabinets.

Cambridge
West Cambridge and the streets around Harvard Square are dense with Victorians and large frame houses cut into condominiums, so a built-in refrigerator often sits in a kitchen carved out of an older floor plan. Access tends to be by narrow stair and shared hall rather than driveway.
